Privacy Policy

What we collect

  • Account info (name, email, avatar) from your sign-in provider
  • Votes, saves, and comments you create
  • Reading signals (scroll position, dwell time) to personalize your feed
  • Device type, browser language, and approximate location (country-level via Cloudflare)

What we do NOT collect

  • Passwords (we use social sign-in and magic links only)
  • Precise location or GPS data
  • Data from other apps on your device
  • Tracking cookies for advertising

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to personalize your feed, deliver features you use (saves, comments, digest emails), and improve txtfeed. We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics as our primary analytics tool — privacy-first, cookieless, GDPR-compliant by design. No personal data, no cookies.

When you accept cookies via the consent banner, we additionally load:

  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic stats with IP anonymization
  • Microsoft Clarity — heatmaps + session replay for UX research. We mask all user-typed input by default (e.g. anything you paste into the validator); we cannot see paste-text content.
  • Google AdSense — only on pages that show ads (none currently)

You can revoke consent at any time by clicking Reject in the banner or clearing the txtfeed-cookie-consent localStorage entry; the analytics scripts will not load on the next page view.

  • Vercel — hosting
  • Turso — database
  • Stripe — payment processing (Pro subscriptions)
  • Resend — transactional email
  • Google / Microsoft — analytics (consent-gated; see Analytics section above)
  • Google / Apple — authentication providers

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — export all your data as JSON from your account settings
  • Rectify your data — update your profile at any time
  • Delete your data — one-click account deletion removes all your data within 30 days
  • Port your data — download your data in a standard format
  • Object to processing — contact us to opt out of personalization

Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymous reading signals are aggregated and cannot be linked back to you.
